Skin Lingerie Ruffle Robe and Dress

Abiding by the old adage that less is more, there seems to be some sense behind this minimal, charming ruffle robe ($165) designed by Skin.

I know - $165 for a robe? But this ridiculously soft and beautifully cut version makes me want to go out and buy another. It addresses every requirement we could ever have of a comfortable summertime robe, and it essentially breaks new ground by doubling as a chic wrap dress.

The ruffles lend it a daintiness that's cute whether you're in the bedroom or out and about, and its neutral stone color makes it easy to dress up or down with the right accessories.

It's the rare occasion a robe aligns itself with my radar, but this clever spin on the traditional style definitely makes it a standout.

Streetwalk | Effortless Charm

Whatever you may call it, there's inspiration to be gleaned from effortlessly cute or nonchalantly chic ensembles. Case in point: Lara's sweeter-than-thou pink cardi, flats and cropped pants are the perfect setup for her pastel blouse's playful mood.

Etched with dainty florals, this pressed flower top ($63) from Topshop mirrors the effect with its ruffled collar and palette of baby blues and pinks. It's the subtle (and yes, effortless) way to infuse any outfit with loads of color.

Kenneth Jay Lane Multi-Flower Necklace

Fans of Kenneth Jay Lane's enormous floral rings will rush right out to get their hands on this multi-flower necklace ($286).

The designer's bold rings make quite an impact and are perfectly capable of being the stand-alone statement piece of the summer. They're buoyed by bright colors and sweet shapes, but most especially by that intriguing size. Despite their heft, they're incredibly ladylike.

Brought together like this, though, they're less elegant and simply clunky instead. The flowers seem to lose the special impact they have when worn singularly.

What do you think, ladies—love it or leave it?

How Can I Keep My Makeup Fresh?

In the summer I always have issues with keeping my makeup fresh. How can I keep my makeup fresh without reapplying it throughout the day?

Keep it light and simple. There's no use attempting a full face when you're at odds with perspiration and sweltering heat. Instead, take advantage of a lightweight tinted moisturizer, like this Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer ($30). It's oil-free, keeps your skin looking fabulous no matter what the weather is up to and contains the always necessary SPF 15.

I confess to a serious obsession with Urban Decay's new De-Slick Mattifying Powder ($28). So ingenious for summer, it instantly absorbs oil and even works over foundation. It's destined to be an instant staple.

How Can I Downplay a Billowy Shirt?

I have to wear an ill-fitting white oxford shirt for a work meeting. They won't allow for it to be tailored. I'm a tiny person and the shirt will fit like a tent. Are there any suggestions on what to wear with the shirt to make it look sleeker or as if it fits better?

That's definitely a bummer, but it could turn out to be a true experiment in style nonetheless. Since you've got something billowy and white on top, you'd be best off pairing it with something darker and sleeker on the bottom.

High waists are your friend, since they eliminate much of that bulk and draw attention to your lower half. This belted 7 for all Mankind skirt ($163), with its smart tweed, deep hue and classic cut, is the perfect foil for your oversized top.

Finish it up with heels for a perfectly pulled together, unfussy look.

Where Can I Find Wedding Dresses in LA?

A darling friend of mine is getting married in September and looking for a wedding dress. Any ideas as to where she should shop in the Los Angeles area? Of course, she would love a good deal. She is lucky enough to be a smaller size. Thanks!

Check out Encore Bridal, the brainchild of Julie Jones. As a bride-to-be several years ago, she searched high and low for the perfect wedding gown at a reasonable price.

A fruitless search and a lack of bridal consignment shops in Los Angeles led to the birth of the company, which specializes in new, sample and nearly-new gowns and bridal accessories at discounted rates.

Search through the gorgeous selection by designer or size. Your friend could save about $2700 on this unique, limited edition Monique Lhuillier ($2990) gown. Prices run the gamut and new items arrive all the time, so share the news with your friend and keep an eye out for that dream dress!

Jennifer Lopez's Summer Sizzle

It’s the 4th of July, my little sparklers, so I thought I’d send a little summery red dress your way – hold the white and blue.

Don’t be fooled by the über-swanky metallic bags that she’s got – Jennifer Lopez is still, is still, Jenny from the block…judging by this easy-chic watermelon-hued sundress she’s sporting (not to mention a Bronxian pairing of large gold hoop earrings and the classic name plate necklace). The belt pulls the look together and serves as a gentle reminder that, yes, this woman delivered twins just a few months ago, and yes, she’s already lost the pudge. Sigh.

Now go set off some fireworks or something.

Lucy Liu's a Giambattista Valli Girl

Cue the Chris De Burgh…

‘Cashmere Mafia’ may have been whacked, but luckily that hasn’t put Lucy Liu off couture (though hopefully she’s learned her lesson that it takes more than some Fendi bags and Louboutins to duplicate ‘Sex and the City’). This lady in red looks positively regal in this crimson Giambattista Valli frock.

I love the gorgeous texture and flower petal details, and even though the bubble skirt is a tad Sir Mix-a-Lot-esque, it’s still high fashion – like an upside-down rose. Two snaps and a circle also go to the savvy and polished choice of shoes, hair, and makeup.

And to think – all of this glamour just to see ‘Kung Fu Panda.’

Claudia Schiffer Reaches New Heights

Riddle me this TopButtoners: Is Marc Jacobs a spray-tanned Smurf, or is Claudia Schiffer really that Amazonian?

The German supermodel has flown under the radar the last few years, but thankfully her impeccable style hasn’t vanished into thin air (ex-boyfriend David Copperfield’s not thatgood). She’s positively radiating couture class in this gorgeously pleated smoky pale lilac dress, lovingly accented with a glittering pink gem brooch, black bow-topped heels, and a luscious aubergine miniaudiere. The simple blonde center-parted hair is a tad vintage Gwyneth, but Claud’s hasn’t really rocked a fussy ‘do since her Guess? days.

What do you think? Does Claudia look wunderbar, or are you more fixated on Marcy Marc?

Mauve-alous, Dahling: Bobbi Brown Mauve Face Palette

Look out, gals – Bobbi Brown is getting autumnal on our arses.

Proving that there’s nothing wrong with an early start (guess Pops was right), the makeup queen has already launched her Limited-Edition Mauve Face Palette for fall. Just when we were finally breaking in our Bronzed Pinks.

This new palette has a more somber, dusky mood to it, boasting a rosy mauve blush, a classic white/gray/black smoky eye triumvirate, and a nice trio of sophisticated mauve lip shades. It’s tasteful, intelligent, and just a tiny bit mysterious. In other words, I dig it.

Ready for some premature immaculation? Get thee to Bergdorf’s and catch that worm.

Heat-Seeking Misses: Summer Survival Tools from Cargo, Tarte, Smashbox & Fekkai

You know it’s steamy outside when even your 80-year-old neighbor breaks out into a Nelly song as she shuffles across the sizzling sidewalk. Funny how the one season when you really want to look your best (and by best, I mean sexiest) is the one that causes you to sweat uncontrollably, get all sorts of chlorinated gunk in your hair, and generally bake (hold the shake) without any sign of reprieve. So much for sexy.

Time to get all Beyonce in this place and proclaim your survivor-hood. Show summer who’s boss by stocking up on these heat-beating beauty goods.

Cargo Melt-Proof Make-Up Collection: Save the melting for candles, Velveeta, and witches with flying monkey entourages. This set includes a waterproof mascara and a summer-perfect bronzer and eye/lip/cheek palette infused with water-resistant goodness.

Tarte 4 Day Stay Lash Stain: The local pool doesn’t stand a chance against this enduring lash pigment, which keeps lashes look rich and full for four days.

Fekkai Zero-Humidity Frizz Control: Keep this handy if your locks curl up when the sun strikes; a protective sun shield keeps hair tame, not toasty.

Smashbox Backdrop Cooling Tint: Freeze, buster! This sheer foundation comes with a refreshing cooling agent that keeps your face feeling breezy for up to 15 minutes.
